The Bald Cypress (Taxodium Distichum) is a tall, upright conifer that has soft feathery needles along its branches which shed annually.
It naturally grows in low and wet places, such as southern swamp land, causing its roots to grow vertically out of the water, giving the illusion of the tree having knees or what is known as cypress knees.
It is a very versatile plant as it can tolerate most soil types and can endure prolonged periods of submersion.
